OCU pops Austin College

Leisure leads four Stars in double figures in kills

Tori Leisure surpassed her season high with 13 kills Sunday.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University regained its winning ways with a 23-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-21 victory over Austin (Texas) on Sunday at Abe Lemons Arena.
Tori Leisure, a freshman from Haslet, Texas, provided OCU with a team-high 13 kills to go with four digs. The Stars improved to 10-15 after dropping a pair of Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball matches over the weekend.
OCU's Hannah Mitcham, a freshman from Fort Worth, Texas, collected her 10th double-double of the year with 44 assists, 19 digs and five kills. Aspen Healy, a junior from Oklahoma City, posted a career-high 12 kills to go with seven digs and two blocks as four Stars reached double figures in kills.
Rachel Gabel, a freshman from Richardson, Texas, notched 10 kills and 11 digs, while Meghan Irwin, a sophomore from Arlington, Texas, picked up 10 kills, five digs and five blocks for OCU.
The Stars' Torrie Flynn, a junior from Edmond, Okla., accrued eight kills, five digs and six blocks, and Danielle Robison, a junior from Dallas, accumulated 21 digs and five aces, adding to her SAC-leading service ace totals.
Kelley Shiels, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., contributed 12 digs for OCU. Four Stars reached double digits in digs as OCU scooped 106 digs as a team. The Stars had their second 100-dig match of the year.
OCU erased a 17-16 deficit en route to taking the second set. Leisure hammered a kill that brought up set point at 24-21, and Gabel socked the set-clinching kill.
Robison helped stake the Stars to an 8-0 third-set advantage by serving up three of her aces during that span. Irwin chipped in two kills and teamed with Flynn on a block. Robison led a six-point Stars surge with two more aces that put OCU in front 21-13. The Stars scored the final three points of the set as Healy had two kills, and Flynn nailed a kill.
The Stars came back from a 14-10 hole to win the match in the fourth set. Heather Watson served up one of her three aces to finish the contest.
