Stars sweep Oklahoma Wesleyan 11-0, 5-1

OCU took two from Oklahoma Wesleyan to move to 34-2 on the season

Magean De La Torre went 4-for-8 with five RBIs and two home runs in two games against Oklahoma Wesleyan Tuesday.
BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Third-ranked Oklahoma City University swept Oklahoma Wesleyan 11-0 and 5-1 in a doubleheader Tuesday.
Magean De La Torre, a junior from Plano, Texas, hit her seventh and eighth home runs of the season to help the Stars, ranked No. 3 in NAIA softball, move to 34-2 on the season.
Lily LaVelle scored on a wild throw to put OCU on top 1-0 in the top of the first inning. Later in the inning, Kylee Rounsaville doubled to center field to plate 3 more runs and put the Stars on top 4-0.
De La Torre extended the OCU lead to 7-0 in the top of the second with a three-run home run to left.
In the top of the fourth, Rounsaville doubled to left to plate De La Torre and make the OCU lead 8-0.
LaVelle put the game out of reach with a three-run home run to left to give the Stars the 11-0 run-rule victory.
LaVelle and A.J. Woodward combine for a two-hit shutout. LaVelle tossed three innings with six strikeouts and Woodward allowed one hit in two innings and picked up the win to move to 7-1 on the year.
Rounsaville lead the Stars at the plate with four RBIs. De La Torre and LaVelle added three RBIs apiece.
The Stars took a 1-0 lead in game No. 2 when Rounsaville scored on a wild throw in the top of the fourth.
Angela Lovelady singled to left to drive in a run in the top of the fifth and make the score 2-0 in favor of OCU.
Tori Joyner came through with an RBI single to left in the top of the sixth to push the Stars' lead to 3-0.
Oklahoma Wesleyan managed a run in the bottom of the sixth, but De La Torre slammed the door with a two-run home run to center field to make the score 5-1.
Woodward allowed one run on five hits in seven innings of work and struck out four to move to 8-1 on the season.
De La Torre went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to lead OCU at the dish.
The Stars will return to action against St. Gregory's in a 2 p.m. doubleheader Thursday in Shawnee, Okla.
