OCU takes second in Battle at Primm

Second-ranked Stars finish ahead of six top 25 teams

Clark Collier finished four strokes out of first place Tuesday.
PRIMM, Nev. – Oklahoma City University notched a second-place finish in Battle at Primm on Tuesday at the Primm Valley Golf Course.
Clark Collier, a senior from Edmond, Okla., led the Stars with a tie for third place. OCU, ranked second in NAIA men's golf, posted a 293-289-289–871 on the par-72, 7,131-yard layout.
No. 1-ranked Oklahoma Christian won the tournament by nine strokes. Third-ranked Grand View (Iowa) finished third at three shots behind the Stars.
OCU finished ahead of 14th-ranked Wayland Baptist (Texas) (fourth place), 11th-ranked CSU San Marcos (fifth), 10th-ranked Southern Nazarene (11th place), 19th-ranked Victoria (British Columbia) (tied for seventh) and 21st-ranked The Master's (Calif.) (ninth).
“We're trying to play perfect golf, and playing golf isn't about being perfect,” OCU coach Kyle Blaser said. “We have to manage the course and make some putts, then we'll be playing outstanding golf.”
Collier scored a 69-70-73–212, four strokes off the individual pace set by Alisdair Dalgliesh of Oklahoma Christian. James Marchesani, a sophomore from Rosebud, Victoria, Australia, tied for eighth with a 72-75-69–216 for OCU.
The Stars' Sondre Ronold tallied a 77-71-74–222, while Taylor Artman compiled a 76-73-76–225. Michael Palmer had a 76-77-73–226.
OCU plays next in the Arkansas State Red Wolf Classic on April 2-3 in Jonesboro, Ark.
