Kyle Blaser

Kyle Blaser has made history guiding the Oklahoma City University men’s golf team.

Blaser led the Stars to their seventh NAIA championship, prevailing by seven strokes over 2009 champion Oklahoma Christian last spring at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill. Blaser has won more NAIA men’s golf championships than any coach (seven). He has been the NAIA national coach of the year six times, also the most ever by anyone. OCU has also won 11 regional titles and 12 Sooner Athletic Conference championships in 13 seasons under Blaser.

The 2009-10 season proved to be a banner year for OCU men’s golf. The Stars captured a single-season school-record nine victories in 12 events, including the national title and the Sooner Athletic Conference Championships. OCU attained the No. 1 ranking in the fall and held it throughout the season. OCU has won 72 tournaments under Blaser.

In his time at OCU, Blaser has coached four NAIA individual champions and national players of the year, one NAIA individual runner-up, 21 all-Americans, two four-time all-Americans, six three-time all-Americans, five two-time all-Americans, 11 NAIA scholar-athlete award winners, four CoSIDA academic all-Americans, six NAIA Region VI champions and players of the year, seven Sooner Athletic Conference individual champions and players of the year.

Since arriving at Oklahoma City in December 1997, Blaser has guided the Stars to 12 top-10 finishes in the NAIA Championships.

OCU started its women’s program in 2000-01, and the Stars immediately became a powerhouse under Blaser’s guidance. OCU finished as NAIA runner-up and captured nine tournament titles, including the NAIA Region VI and SAC championships. Two women’s golfers became all-Americans.

Blaser coached at Jenks High School (Okla.) in 1996. In his tenure there, Jenks won the conference title, regional title and Class 5A state championship. In 1996, Blaser was named Oklahoma Golf Coaches Association Regional Representative.

Blaser and his wife Krista have sons named Blake (10), Carson (7) and Chase (2).
