Stars drop SAC Tournament match to John Brown

OCU completes season in tournament quarterfinals

SHAWNEE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University's volleyball season drew to an end in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals as John Brown (Ark.) won 17-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-22 on Friday at the Noble Complex.
Meghan Irwin, a sophomore from Arlington, Texas, sparked OCU with 15 kills, three digs and two blocks. The Stars concluded the year 15-22.
Rachel Gabel, a freshman from Richardson, Texas, posted 14 kills and three digs, while Hannah Mitcham, a freshman from Fort Worth, Texas, amassed 38 assists, seven digs, five kills and three blocks for the Stars.
Anna Gentry, a junior from Stillwater, Okla., scooped 16 digs, while Danielle Robison, a junior from Dallas, picked up 10 digs and an ace for OCU. Aspen Healy, a junior from Oklahoma City, produced seven kills, six digs and six blocks, and Torrie Flynn, a junior from Edmond, Okla., had seven kills, eight digs, five blocks and an ace for the Stars.
OCU scored the final eight points of set one. Healy nailed a kill and combined with Flynn on two blocks. Flynn pounded a kill to finish the set.
John Brown answered by tallying the last three points of the second set as Libby Blasingame's kills sparked that surge.
In the third set, John Brown overcame OCU's 17-11 advantage and scored the final four points of the frame. Mitcham's kill put the Stars in front 17-11.
Irwin socked a kill that put the Stars up 20-18 in the fourth set, but John Brown came from behind.
OCU had no seniors on this year's squad.
