Stars rally past Oklahoma Baptist 3-1

OCU score three unanswered goals in the second half to move to 10-1

Sheridan Horner scored her fifth and sixth goals of the season against Oklahoma Baptist.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University rallied past Oklahoma Baptist 3-1 Tuesday at Stars Field.
The Stars, ranked No. 8 in NAIA women's soccer, scored three unanswered goals in the second half to drop the Lady Bison and move to 10-1 overall and 2-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
Sophomore Sandra Hallin, of Orebro, Sweden, and freshman Allison Worsham, of Edmond, Okla., each put a shot on goal in the first half, but Oklahoma Baptist goalkeeper Shannon Griffith stopped both attempts to keep the match scoreless.
In the 38th minute, sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Bechtold, of Oklahoma City, saved Paula Vincenzo's attempt to keep the score 0-0 at the half.
Vincenzo put Oklahoma Baptist on the scoreboard in the 51st minute when she took a shot from the top of the box and beat sophomore goalkeeper Alissa Reed, of Fort Worth, Texas, to make the score 1-0.
Senior Sheridan Horner, of Choctaw, Okla., leveled the score at 1-1 in the 57th minute when she took a pass from sophomore Allie Glazner, of Edmond, Okla., and scored her fifth goal of the season.
Senior Rachael O'Brien, of Plano, Texas, found junior Meghan McMahon, of Oklahoma City, with a pass from midfield and McMahon headed the ball past Griffith to give OCU a 2-1 lead in the 69th minute.
Senior Hollis St. John, of Friendswood, Texas, took a corner kick in the 78th minute and picked out McMahon who passed to Horner. Horner found the back of the net for the second time on the night to give OCU the 3-1 victory.
Bechtold and Reed split time in goal. Bechtold got the start and made one save in the first half and Reed made three saves in the second half.
The Stars will return to action against USAO at 5 p.m. Friday at Stars Field.
