PRIMM, Nev. – Oklahoma City University picked up the win in the California Baptist Spring Break Invitational on Tuesday at Primm Valley Golf Club.
The Stars, ranked second in NAIA men's golf, fired a 292-291-287–870 to win by five strokes over 19th-ranked Savannah Art & Design (Ga.). OCU captured its fourth victory in six starts this season.
Michael Palmer, a sophomore from Johannesburg, South Africa, led OCU with a tie for third place individually. Palmer registered a 71-72-73–216 to finish three shots off the pace set by Greg Richards of Savannah Art & Design.
James Marchesani, a freshman from Rosebud, Victoria, Australia, turned in a 72-72-73–217 to tie for fifth for the Stars. Cameron Meyers contributed a 77-71-73–221, and Elliot Groves had a 73-79-70–222 to finish in the top 15.
Clark Collier carded a 76-76-71–223 for OCU.
Temperatures reached 60 degrees and winds were up to 12 mph on the par-72, 7,131-yard Desert Course.
OCU hosts the Oklahoma City Spring Classic at Dornick Hills Golf & Country Club in Ardmore, Okla., on April 18-19.
