OCU triumphs 64-55 in overtime over Oklahoma Christian

Fourth consecutive win boosts Stars to 15-8, 8-7 in Sooner Athletic Conference

Nate Flowers recorded his 13th double-double of the season with 11 points and 12 rebounds Saturday.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City University men's basketball team pulled off a 64-55 overtime win against Oklahoma Christian on Saturday at the Eagles Nest in the Backyard Brawl.

OCU improved to 15-8, 8-7 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. The Stars were led by Dee Proby, a senior from Round Rock, Texas, with 16 points and five rebounds. Nate Flowers, a senior from Waldorf, Md., earned a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

OCU received plenty of help from the bench with 19 points, 16 of those coming from Proby. Orlan Jackman and Shane Rogers also scored in the double digits, scoring 14 and 12 points, respectively. Overall, the Stars dominated the boards, bringing in 50 rebounds to Oklahoma Christian's 40.

In overtime, the Stars went on an 13-4 run punctuated by Proby's dunk with nine seconds left.

The Stars built a comfortable 12-point lead on a jumper by Flowers at the 3:12 mark of the first half. OCU kept the lead going into the locker room with a 26-18 lead.

In the second half, the Stars came out strong but faltered early, giving up the lead at the 11:24 mark on Eric Randall's 3-point play. OCU came back quickly to take the lead back on a 3-pointer from Proby.

The Eagles fought back to tie the game with 45 seconds left using Andre Vaughn's bucket. Oklahoma Christian had a chance to win the game in regulation, but Devan White missed a 3-pointer as time expired.

OCU next faces John Brown (Ark.) at 8 p.m. Thursday at Abe Lemons Arena.
