OCU vs. Southern Nazarene men's basketball preview

THE MATCHUP: Oklahoma City University takes on 18th-ranked Southern Nazarene in an early Sooner Athletic Conference contest.
Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students and free to OCU students, faculty and staff with their ID.
 
ABOUT THE STARS: The Stars improved to 5-1 and 2-0 in SAC play with a 75-64 win on the road against USAO. OCU lead by as many 22 in the game and outscored the Drovers 46-26 in the paint. The Stars pulled down 21 offensive rebounds leading to 26 second-chance points.
Forward Tim Morton led the charge with 18 points and nine rebounds. The sophomore from Capital Heights, Md., posted his third consecutive double-figure scoring performance and is averaging 11.6 points per game while shooting 70 percent from the floor.
Senior Orlan Jackman pitched in with 15 points and six rebounds against USAO. The 6-6 forward is averaging 10.5 points per game and leads the team in rebounding with 6.8 per game.
Junior Elhadji Wade provided a season-high 14 points off the bench in the 75-64 win. The 6-9 Wade shot close to 60 percent from the floor in 14 minutes of action.
The Stars currently stand eighth in NAIA Division I in field goal percentage defense holding teams to 37 percent from the floor. OCU is ranked ninth in defensive rebounds per game with 30 and 11th in scoring defense at 60.1 points per game. C.J. Busby is fourth in nation in 3-points field goals made per game with 3.5, and Charlton Jones sits fifth in assists per game with 7.1. The Stars hold a 37-20 record all time against Southern Nazarene. The Crimson Storm took both meetings a season ago.
 
ABOUT THE CRIMSON STORM: Southern Nazarene went to the wire with Mid-America Christian, but came away with a 78-72 victory to improve to 5-1 and 1-0 in SAC play.
Guard Ryan Aaron dropped a game-high 32 points against Mid-America while shooting 64 percent from the floor and 57 percent from 3-point land. Aaron leads SNU with 19 points per game.
Forward Jon West added 15 points against Mid-America Christian. West averages 12.3 points per game for Southern Nazarene and is 35th in the nation is free-throw percentage at 83 percent.
Horace McGloster posted a double-double with 11 rebounds and 10 points in the 75-72 win. The forward leads the SAC in rebounding with 8.6 per game and is ranked 14th in the nation in defensive rebounds per game with six.
Southern Nazarene sits seventh in the nation in blocks per game with 5.1 and total rebounds per game with 43.3.
 
ABOUT THE COACHES: Dionne Phelps enters his first season as a head coach with OCU. Phelps took over the Stars after serving as assistant coach at Oklahoma. Phelps has been a part of four conference title teams as well as three NCAA Tournament teams during his 22-year coaching career. Phelps played for Texas Lutheran, eventually joining the Bulldogs Athletic Hall of Fame.
Adam Bohac enters his fourth season at Southern Nazarene.  He has guided the Crimson Storm to an 86-31 record in his first three seasons as head coach. Bohac shared SAC coach of the year honors in 2009-10 with Oklahoma Baptist's Doug Tolin. Bohac was an assistant at SNU from 2004-07 and an assistant at Army in 2007-08.
