OCU hosts top four teams in women's wrestling

Duals start 10 a.m. Sunday at Abe Lemons Arena

Michaela Hutchison is a two-time Women's College Wrestling Association national champion.
OKLAHOMA CITY – The top four teams in the first edition of the Women's College Wrestling Association rankings square off in duals Sunday at Abe Lemons Arena.
Three-time defending WCWA and four-time NWCA National Duals champion Oklahoma City University tops the rankings. Three Stars hold the No. 1 ranking at their respective weights.
Simon Fraser (British Columbia) comes in at No. 2 in the ratings after finishing as national runner-up last season. Cumberlands (Ky.) is No. 3, while King (Tenn.) is fourth. Lindenwood (Mo.) checks in at fifth.
OCU (4-0) meets King's red team at 11 a.m., then Cumberlands at 1 p.m., Simon Fraser at 2 p.m., then King at 3 p.m. Sunday. Cumberlands, Simon Fraser and King will meet 10 a.m. to start the series of duals Sunday at Abe Lemons Arena. To watch the duals live, click here.
The duals should have an impact on the next set of rankings as well as the NWCA National Duals on Jan. 6-7 in Springfield, Ill.
“This weekend's event seeds the NWCA National Dual Tournament,” Randall said. “With the top four teams and all the ranked wrestlers here, you will see some great matchups and some changes in team and individual rankings.”
The Stars' top-ranked individuals are Michaela Hutchison at 123 pounds, Kristie Davis at 143, then Brittany Delgado at 191. Davis, a senior from Mustang, Okla., and Delgado, a senior from Fountain Inn, S.C., are returning national champions, while Hutchison took runner-up last season.
Other wrestlers holding No. 1 rankings were Simon Fraser's Daphne-Ann Hodgson, 101; King's Emily Martin, 109; Cumberlands' Gabrielle Henry, 116; Cumberlands' Cianah Hee, 130; King's Alli Regan, 136; Lindenwood's Kendra Lewis, 155; and Simon Fraser's Justine DiStasio, 170.
The next WCWA rankings will be compiled Oct. 15. Rankings will be put together the first and 15th of each month until January.
