Texas Wesleyan edges OCU

Santos picks Stars up with 17 kills, 16 digs

Meghan Irwin posted eight kills and three blocks against Texas Wesleyan on Monday.
Box Score FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma City University dropped a 25-19, 25-22, 24-26, 27-25 decision to Texas Wesleyan on Monday at the Sid Richardson Center.
Raissa Santos, a senior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, served as OCU's ringleader with 17 kills and 16 digs. The Stars fell to 10-13 in volleyball.
Taylor Rowton, a senior from Edmond, Okla., chipped in 10 kills and three blocks, while Alex Benbrook, a senior from Enid, Okla., contributed nine kills and three blocks for the Stars.
Torrie Flynn had eight kills and two blocks, and Meghan Irwin compiled eight kills and three blocks for OCU. Danielle Robison registered 47 assists and 13 digs, and Victoria Cross picked up 20 digs. Anna Gentry added 14 digs.
OCU battled to extend the fourth set. Benbrook pounded down a kill to tie the score 25-25, but Texas Wesleyan answered with Alex Hendee's kill and Hendee and Katherin Rosenbusch's block.
Santos had two kills to extend the Stars' third-set lead to 17-12. Texas Wesleyan rallied to take a 23-22 edge, but Irwin responded with a kill. Irwin's kill put OCU ahead 25-24, then Santos sealed the set with a kill.
OCU takes on Lubbock Christian (Texas) at 7 p.m. Friday at Abe Lemons Arena.
