OCU tops St. Gregory's

Stars up record to 11-20, 4-5 in SAC

Taylor Rowton recorded eight kills and two blocks Tuesday at St. Gregory's.
Box Score SHAWNEE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University picked up a Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball road win 25-20, 25-22, 25-16 over St. Gregory's on Tuesday at W.P. Wood Fieldhouse.
Raissa Santos, a senior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, led OCU with 12 kills while recording six digs and two blocks. The Stars improved to 11-20, 4-5 in league play.
Danielle Robison, a sophomore from Dallas, posted 34 assists and eight digs, while Victoria Cross, a senior from Oklahoma City, topped the Stars with 13 digs. Anna Gentry, a sophomore from Stillwater, Okla., chipped in 12 digs.
Torrie Flynn, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., and Taylor Rowton, a senior from Edmond, Okla., each notched eight kills for OCU. Alex Benbrook, a senior from Enid, Okla., added six kills and two blocks.
Meghan Irwin staked OCU to a 5-1 first-set lead with a kill. Rowton hammered down a kill to provide OCU a 16-9 advantage, but St. Gregory's rallied to tie the score 20-20. The Stars closed the set out with the final five points as Santos had three kills and Rowton knocked down a kill.
Rowton brought up set point in the second at 24-19 with a kill. St. Gregory's cut its deficit to 24-22, but Santos put away the set on a kill.
OCU turned in a .455 hitting percentage in the third set to clinch the victory.  
The Stars face Oklahoma Baptist at 7 p.m. Friday at Abe Lemons Arena.
