OKLAHOMA CITY – Alex Benbrook of Oklahoma City University has been chosen as Sooner Athletic Conference hitter of the week for Sept. 13-19.
Benbrook, a junior middle blocker from Enid, Okla., averaged 2.43 kills and 0.79 blocks a set in wins over Southern Nazarene, Dallas Christian, College of the Ozarks (Mo.) and Friends (Kan.).
Against College of the Ozarks, Benbrook contributed 12 kills and three blocks as OCU won in five sets to avenge a loss to College of the Ozarks on Aug. 28.
Benbrook has recorded 2.27 kills and 0.76 blocks per set this year for the Stars.
The Stars have won six consecutive contests to get to 8-4 entering a conference clash against Mid-America Christian at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Abe Lemons Arena.
