KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Andy Fitzpatrick of Oklahoma City University picked up NAIA men's soccer defensive player of the week honors for the week of Sept. 27-Oct. 3.
Fitzpatrick, a senior goalkeeper from Kansas City, Mo., spearheaded the Stars' 2-0 victory over previously unbeaten and eighth-ranked USAO on Tuesday, Sept. 28 in Chickasha, Okla.
In the match, Fitzpatrick notched six saves against the defending Sooner Athletic Conference champion Drovers.
"As a senior, I've been here for three years," Fitzpatrick said. "We have had a bunch of freshmen come in and be very influential on the team. Senior-wise, we've done well and made everyone feel comfortable on the team."
The SAC honored Fitzpatrick for the second week in a row with the conference defensive player of the week after his effort.
On the year, Fitzpatrick has four shutouts and 34 saves. He has yielded eight goals in seven matches for a 1.14 goals-against average.
Fitzpatrick was selected out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated player of the week winners among 23 conference/independent/unaffiliated groupings.
The Stars (5-2, 1-0 SAC) take on Rogers State at 7 p.m. Tuesday before meeting Mid-America Christian at 7 p.m. Saturday, both at Stars Field. Fans can follow both matches via live stats or live video.
