OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University set a single-match school record for hitting percentage in a 25-8, 25-9, 25-10 win over St. Gregory's on Thursday at Abe Lemons Arena.
The Stars posted a .536 team hitting percentage, knocking down 43 kills in 69 attacks with six errors. OCU improved to 18-10, 8-4 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Xiaoting Ma, a senior from Dalian, China, recorded 11 kills, eight digs and two blocks for OCU. Taylor Rowton, a junior from Edmond, Okla., added nine kills.
Alex Benbrook and Raissa Santos each contributed eight kills. Benbrook also had a team-high four blocks, while Santos picked up six digs.
The Stars closed out the first set on a 14-0 tear. Rowton provided OCU a sideout with a kill. Robison served for OCU on the final 13 points of the match, notching three aces during that stretch. Flynn and Santos compiled three kills each in that span. Flynn and Anna Gentry teamed on a block to put away the set.
OCU went on an 8-0 run in the second set. Benbrook, Flynn, Ma, Rowton and Santos each nailed down kills for the Stars.
In the final set, OCU scored six points in a row. Robison landed three aces in that stretch. Ma brought up match point for OCU with a kill.
The Stars meet Wayland Baptist (Texas) at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5 at Abe Lemons Arena.
