LUBBOCK, Texas – The Oklahoma City University men outlasted Lubbock Christian in a 1-0 double-overtime match in Lubbock, Texas on Tuesday.

OCU (9-4-1, 5-2-1) had 11 players record shots in the match. John Dill, a senior from Broken Arrow, Okla., led the way with four shots on goal and the eventual game winner late into the second overtime. Preston Cox had two shots on goal in the match, and Ryan Hunter added another shot on goal during regulation that was batted away.
The regulation period ended in a 0-0 draw after what proved to be an evenly matched 90 minutes heading into the “golden goal” overtime periods.

The Stars started the first overtime with aggressive play, with Dill taking a shot just one minute into the period that was saved by Alistair Caldwell for Lubbock Christian. The Chaparrals responded with a shot of their own in the 95th minute, but OCU goalkeeper Andy Fitzpatrick recorded the clutch save for the Stars. Fitzpatrick, a senior from Kansas City, Mo., ended the day with six saves.

Lubbock Christian started the second overtime on the offensive attack, with another key save being credited to Fitzpatrick in the 102nd minute of play. In the 106th minute, the Chaparrals committed a hand ball foul in the box, giving OCU the opportunity to score on a penalty kick.

Dill was called upon for the penalty try, which found its mark and ended the match with a Stars victory. The goal was Dill's fourth on the season, and second in a penalty kick situation.

OCU returns home for Senior Day on Saturday Oct. 30, where they will play host to cross-town rivals Southern Nazarene in a 7 p.m. match at Stars Field.
