Chris Brown scored a game-high 23 points against Northwestern Oklahoma State.

ALVA, Okla. – Chris Brown scored 23 points and Oklahoma City University picked up a 69-55 victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday evening at Percefull Fieldhouse in men's basketball.

Brown, a senior from Spencer, Okla., scored 13 of his 23 points in the second half as OCU pulled away late. The Stars moved to 7-5, 5-4 in the Sooner Athletic Conference, while Northwestern dropped to 8-9, 3-7 in the SAC.

“That might have been Chris's best overall game this season,” OCU coach Kevin Morrissey said. “Not only was he efficient on the offensive end, defensively he had that big block at the end.

“Our guys made plays down the stretch, and our defense helped get that victory.”

Kavon Lytch, a junior from Brooklyn, N.Y., put in 14 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Corey Bingham added 12 points, six rebounds and a steal.

The Stars went on a 16-2 run midway through the second half to take a 60-50 lead with 4:14 to play. Brown scored five straight points, including a 3-point play to give OCU a 50-48 advantage with 7:29 left. Brown capped the run with a jumper to give OCU its first double digit lead of the game.

Northwestern never got closer than nine points the rest of the way.

The Stars shot 62.5 percent in the second half and finished at 45.5 percent from the field. OCU outrebounded Northwestern 46-39.
