IRVINE, Calif. – Oklahoma City University extended third-ranked California Baptist to a fourth set before falling 25-16, 25-12, 29-31, 25-22 on Saturday at the CU Arena in the Concordia Labor Day Tournament.

The Stars (4-5) also dropped a 25-12, 25-21, 25-18 verdict to Westmont (Calif.) at The Pit on the campus of Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, Calif.

OCU answered in the third set after California Baptist took the first two sets. Jeannee Campbell came up with a block, then Taylor Rowton nailed down a kill to put the Stars ahead 19-14.

California Baptist rallied to tie the set 23-23, then OCU had set point at 24-23. OCU had set point seven times, then Adrienne Tillery put away the set with a kill.

Campbell, a junior from San Antonio, recorded eight kills, four digs and two blocks, while Rowton had seven kills and four digs. Tillery tallied six kills, six digs and two blocks, and Alex Benbrook had five kills and three blocks. Samantha Ball handed out 16 assists, and Shelbey Veselka had 15 digs.

Against Westmont, Xiaoting Ma led OCU with eight kills to go with six digs, while Ball recorded 20 assists. Campbell chipped in five kills, four digs and two aces, and Benbrook had five kills and two blocks. Veselka picked up nine digs.

OCU faces Southwestern Oklahoma State at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Weatherford, Okla.
