LAWRENCE, Kan. – Michael Palmer led Oklahoma City University with a tie for 14th place in the Kansas Invitational on Tuesday at Alvamar Golf Club.
Palmer, a freshman from South Africa, posted a 71-75-76–222 as the Stars, ranked third in NAIA men's golf according to Golf World, finished 10th with a 309-304-308–921.
Nate Barbee of Kansas won the tournament with a 74-69-68–211. Palmer finished with 38 pars as OCU played a par-72, 7,092-yard course against 13 NCAA Division I teams. Winds were calm, and temperatures reached 68 degrees Tuesday.
Julian Valenciana, a senior from Monterrey, Mexico, fired a 76-77-78–231 for the Stars. Clark Collier added an 81-73-81–235, while Jacob Sahmaunt shot 81-82-73–236. Taylor Artman carded an 83-79-82–244.
The Stars compete next in the Grand Canyon Invitational on Oct. 5-6 at Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Ariz.
