LAWRENCE, Kan. – Oklahoma City University stood in a tie for ninth place through 36 holes of the Kansas Invitational on Monday at Alvamar Golf Course.
The Stars, ranked third in NAIA men's golf by Golf World, shot 309-304–613 competing against 13 NCAA Division I teams on a par-72, 7,092-yard course.
Michael Palmer, a freshman from South Africa, carded 71-75-146 to be tied for seventh at four strokes off the pace. He and five others – including 36-hole leader Jace Long of Missouri – were in a tie for second after the first round. Palmer sank an eagle to go with 25 pars.
Julian Valenciana, a senior from Monterrey, Mexico, recorded a 76-77–153, while Clark Collier, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., had an 81-73–154 for OCU.
Taylor Artman contributed a 83-79–162, and Jacob Sahmaunt shot 81-82–163.
The tournament concludes with the final 18 holes starting with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start Tuesday.
