THE MATCHUP: Oklahoma City University faces St. Gregory's in a Sooner Athletic Conference clash.
Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 students and free to OCU students, faculty and staff with their ID.
ABOUT THE STARS: OCU dropped its conference opener to Oklahoma Baptist 88-75 on Thursday in Shawnee, Okla. Tim Bowman sank a 3-pointer with 7:30 left in the game to give Oklahoma Baptist the lead for good.
Jerome Phillips, a 6-foot-5 senior from Chickasha, Okla., led six double-figure scorers for OCU with 16 points. Phillips sank four 3-pointers. Phillips averages 12.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.25 steals a game.
Chris Brown, a 6-foot senior from Spencer, Okla., contributed 13 points and five assists. Brown is OCU's leading scorer at 17.8 points a game to go with 3.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists a game.
Corey Bingham, a 6-3 junior from Lynn, Mass., recorded 11 points, a game-high nine rebounds and five assists. Bingham averages 12.0 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.00 steal a game. Bryant Williams, a 6-9 senior from Austin, Texas, ranks second in NAIA Division I with 3.75 blocked shots a game, while OCU ranks second as a team nationally in blocks with 7.00 per game.
In the preseason, the Stars have been picked to finish sixth in the Sooner Athletic Conference. OCU has captured the SAC regular-season crown 13 times. OCU received votes in the preseason NAIA Division I rankings.
OCU has a 27-0 advantage in the overall series against St. Gregory's. The Stars knocked off St. Gregory's 80-56 on Feb. 12 at Abe Lemons Arena.
ABOUT THE CAVALIERS: St. Gregory's suffered its first loss of the season 82-71 on Thursday in Shawnee, Okla. St. Gregory's (5-1, 0-1 SAC) shot 58.1 percent in the second half.
Chris Dean, a 6-4 sophomore, went 9-for-9 from the field in scoring a team-high 20 points. Dean is averaging 18.0 points and 4.0 rebounds.
Fayzon Richey, a 6-3 freshman, chipped in 17 points and three assists. Richey puts up 16.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists a game.
St. Gregory's was 12th in the conference preseason poll according to league coaches.
ABOUT THE COACHES: Kevin Morrissey enters his first full season as OCU head coach. Morrissey spent the previous four seasons as St. Gregory's coach. He also has been an assistant at Missouri State and Texas-Pan American. Morrissey played his college ball at Oklahoma Baptist and Oral Roberts and high school at Bishop McGuinness in Oklahoma City.
St. Gregory's has gone 7-28 since John Martin became head coach last season, succeeding Morrissey. St. Gregory's went 2-27 last season. Martin played college basketball at St. Gregory's, when it was a junior college, and OCU.
