OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University's Alex Benbrook topped the honorees this week in the Sooner Athletic Conference, capturing player of the week for Sept. 28-Oct. 4.
OCU notched its first win this year over a ranked opponent, 21st-ranked Oklahoma Baptist, on Thursday. The Stars have three wins over ranked teams since the program restarted in 2006.
Benbrook, a sophomore middle blocker from Enid, Okla., averaged 3.33 kills and carried a .600 attack percentage in wins against St. Gregory's and No. 21 Oklahoma Baptist. She also had three digs and five block assists for the week.
Benbrook is averaging 1.80 kills and 0.77 blocks a set this year.
The Stars meet Mid-America Christian at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Oklahoma City.
