PLAINVIEW, Texas – Wayland Baptist (Texas) halted Oklahoma City University's five-match win streak in conference volleyball play in a 25-10, 25-14, 25-19 win Friday at the Hutcherson Center.
Xiaoting Ma, a junior from Dalian, China, pounded down 13 kills to go with 10 digs and three blocks for OCU. The Stars moved to 14-17, 5-3 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Samantha Ball, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., contributed 24 assists and eight digs, while Alex Benbrook, a sophomore from Enid, Okla., chipped in seven kills and three blocks for OCU. Shelbey Veselka, a junior from Boerne, Texas, picked up a team-high 11 digs.
In the second set, OCU led 3-1, but Wayland answered with five consecutive points.
In the third, Wayland reeled off six points in a row to break a 2-2 tie on the way to sewing up the victory.
