OCU women hang on for 67-55 win over Campbellsville

LAS VEGAS ? Oklahoma City University knocked off Campbellsville (Ky.) 67-55 on Friday at Sierra Vista High School in the Las Vegas NAIA Shootout.
The Stars led by as much as 19 points before Campbellsville made a late run to cut the OCU advantage to nine.
Romana Vynuchalova, a 6-foot-4 junior from Bratislava, Slovakia, led OCU with 18 points. Vynuchalova hit 8 of 14 shots from the field.
Chelsea Ledbetter added 12 points, while Alexandra Kotta chipped in 11 points for the Stars.
OCU improved to 11-0. Campbellsville, a perennial NAIA Tournament qualifier, fell to 8-7.
?That?s a good team,? OCU coach Rob Edmisson said. ?Romana had her best game all around. She really attacked the basket and defended well.?
OCU held Campbellsville to 17-of-62 shooting from the field. Julija Ilic, typically Campbellsville?s leading scorer, scored only seven points on 2-of-shooting from the floor.
?Our defense was as good as it was all year in the first half,? Edmisson said. ?In the second half, we were better offensively. Our post defense was great.?
Campbellsville led 9-6 early, but OCU went on an 11-0 run to take the lead. OCU went on a 9-0 lead in the second half to have its biggest advantage at 47-29.
The Stars face South Dakota Mines at 3 p.m. Oklahoma time Saturday in the Las Vegas NAIA Shootout.
