OCU women suffer first loss to Carroll 82-62

BUTTE, Mont. ? Oklahoma City University suffered its first loss in women?s basketball this season as Carroll (Mont.) beat the Stars 82-62 on Friday in the Peg Sarsfield Classic.
Mariam Sy, a 6-foot-4 senior from Mali, West Africa, led OCU with 28 points, five rebounds and two blocked shots. Necy DeVance had the next highest point total with nine points.
Carroll, the 10th-ranked in NAIA Division I, went to 10-0. The seventh-ranked Stars fell to 5-1.
Carroll had a 32-20 rebounding advantage and sank eight 3-pointers. Six Carroll players scored in double figures. Danielle Maloney scored 17 points to lead Carroll.
The Stars play next against No. 18 Montana-Western at 4 p.m. Oklahoma time in the Sarsfield Classic.
