OCU Run to Stop Distracted Driving 5K

Hosted by OCU cross country/track on March 9, 2013



The community is invited to run in the Oklahoma City University Run to Stop 5K at 8 a.m. March 9 on the Oklahoma City University campus, 2501 N. Blackwelder Ave.
The course will take runners on a fast loop through the beautiful OCU campus. It is spectator friendly. Use the race as a tune-up for a spring marathon.

All proceeds benefit the OCU cross country/track program as well as the No Texting Zone campaign. The event raises awareness for the nationwide no texting while driving campaign. Pre-race pasta dinner at 6 p.m. Friday, March 8 at the Leichter Room on second floor of Freede Center included as part of pre-registration; Interactive booths, live music, kids corner, fitness testing on day of race. Great door prizes and finisher awards. Pre-race packet pickup and registration will be second floor of Freede Center from 2-7 p.m. Friday, March 8.

Registration options (each includes pre-race meal):

5K run with hi-tech dri-fit shirt, $25
5K run without shirt, $15
1-mile walk with dri-fit shirt, $15
1-mile walk without shirt, $5


Age groups are 10 and under; 11-14; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65 and older.
The schedule:
7 a.m.: Race day registration/packet pickup at Abe Lemons Arena inside the Freede Center
7:55 a.m.: National anthem/invocation
8 a.m.: 5K starts
8:30 a.m.: Mile fun run/walk starts
9 a.m.: Awards
