Galindo of OCU takes SAC player of week

Senior from Shattuck, Okla., earns third conference honor of season

OKLAHOMA CITY – Daniela Galindo of Oklahoma City University snagged her third Sooner Athletic Conference women's basketball player of the week honor after averaging 23.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 4.33 steals a game for Jan. 15-21.
Galindo, a senior from Shattuck, Okla., led her team to victories over Central Christian (Kan.) and Panhandle State, finishing the week shooting 45.3 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from downtown. She has recorded eight games with 20 or more points this season, leading the conference with a 20.4 per-game average.
In Tuesday's win over Central Christian, Galindo went for 28 points, knocking down four triples and adding five rebounds and four steals. She followed the performance with 13 points against eighth-ranked Wayland Baptist (Texas) and 26 points, six steals, four assists and four rebounds against Panhandle State. Galindo surpassed 1,000 career points Saturday, moving her total to 1,024. OCU improved to 9-1 in conference play this year.
Among the NAIA Division I, Galindo ranks third in total scoring (368), fourth in points per game (20.4), fifth in free throw percentage (85.1), sixth in total 3's made (51) and eighth in made 3's per game (2.83). She also ranks ninth in 3-point field goal percentage, hitting at a 45.9 percent clip. Her career-best 37-point outburst at Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) on Nov. 25 remains tops among the conference this season.
