Men's Cross Country Bahreini, Koskey and Nolan notch top-3 finishes

OCU men finish first, women fourth in Central Oklahoma Land Run

EDMOND, Okla. – Oklahoma City University men's cross country took first place in the Central Oklahoma Land Run while the women finished fourth Saturday at Edmond Santa Fe High School.
OCU, ranked No. 15 in the NAIA, placed five runners in the top-11 in the men's four-mile run to finish 20 points ahead of sixth-ranked Oklahoma Baptist and pick up its second team win in program history. Peter Koskey and Arya Bahreini paced the Stars finishing second and third respectively. OCU's Katrina Nolan placed second overall in the women's 5K.
Koskey, of Keringet, Kenya, finished second overall with a time of 19 minutes and 49 seconds and Bahreini, of Edmond, Okla., followed in third place with a time of 19:57. The duo finished behind Oklahoma Baptist's Adam Godwin who turned in a time of 19:48.
Freshman Mackenzie Wahpepah-Harris, of Norman, Okla., posted a time of 20:43 and placed sixth. Kyle Wardwell, a junior from Norman, Okla., followed in ninth place with a time of 20:59 and freshman Chris Lowery, of Chandler, Okla., rounded out OCU's top-5 finishing 11th with a time of 21:02.
Sophomores Reno Blum, of Tahlequah, Okla., and Dylan Smith-Sutton, of Midwest City, Okla., finished 30th and 34th respectively. Fellow sophomores Colin Earle, of Ada, Okla., Sam Henry, of Oklahoma City, and Alexander Knight, of Oklahoma City, finished 44th, 60th and 66th respectively.
Nolan, a sophomore from Wasaga Beach, Ontario, Canada, paced the OCU women with a time of 18:59. She finished second behind Oklahoma Baptist's Hannah Helker who turned in a time of 17:47.
Freshman Madeline Boehlke, of Colorado Springs, Colo., crossed the line next for the Stars finishing 17th overall with a time of 20:16. Raechel Brown, a junior from Edmond, Okla., finished 23rd with a time of 20:41 and freshman Chloe Boehlke, of Colorado Springs, Colo., followed in 27th place with a time of 20:52.
Sophomore Rileigh Darby-McClure, of Colorado Springs, Colo., finished 43rd, Denet Sang, a junior from Nakuru, Kenya, finished 50th and Kaitlin Pontikes, a sophomore from Elgin, Okla., finished 51st. Juniors Liz Mathews, of Wichita, Kan., and Emily Guthrie, of Newcastle, Okla., placed 76th and 81st respectively.
Freshman Sarah Moore, of Omagh, Ireland, finished sixth overall while running unattached.
The Stars will return to action in the Oklahoma City Fall Classic on Sept. 21 at Eldon Lyon Park in Bethany, Okla.
