Four OCU golfers garner all-region acclaim

Collier takes all-region for fourth time

Taylor Artman grabbed all-region and all-American nods after capping his OCU career with a tie for eighth place in the NAIA Championships.
NORMAN, Okla. – Taylor Artman, Clark Collier, James Marchesani and Michael Palmer of Oklahoma City University's 2012 NAIA men's golf national championship team made the Golf Coaches Association of America's all-NAIA Central Region team.
Collier and Marchesani became repeat choices on the all-region team. Palmer picked up his second all-region nod, while Collier became a four-time all-region selection.
A senior from Edmond, Okla., out of Casady School, Collier posted a 72.77 stroke average for the Stars. Collier finished 11th to earn all-tournament honors in the NAIA Championships on May 22-25 in Salem, Ore. Collier turned in three top-five finishes this season, capturing the individual title in the Sooner Athletic Conference Championships on April 23-24 in Lubbock, Texas.
Collier compiled 73.34 shots per 18 holes in 123.5 rounds with four victories as a Star. Collier joined Anthony Michael and Colin Nel as OCU's only four-time men's golf all-Americans.
Artman, a senior from Norman, Okla., notched a 73.16 stroke average in 2011-12. Artman's tie for eighth and all-tournament showing led OCU in the NAIA Championships. Artman produced six top-10 finishes this season. Artman recorded a 74.31 stroke average in his OCU career.
Marchesani, a sophomore from Rosebud, Victoria, Australia, led the team with a 72.32 stroke average this season. Marchesani had four top-five finishes highlighted by a third-place showing in the SAC Championships that earned him an all-conference nod.
Palmer, a junior from Johannesburg, South Africa, had a 73.21 stroke average this season. Palmer finished in the top five in five events, tying for third place in the Texas Intercollegiate on March 11-12 in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Stars captured their eighth national championship on May 22-25 at Creekside Golf Club in Salem, Ore. OCU won national titles in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2010 and 2012.
