Stars post leading score in Jones Invitational

Collier spurs second-ranked OCU to edge over host Louisiana-Monroe

Elliot Groves sat tied for fourth place individually after two rounds of the Louisiana-Monroe Wallace Jones Invitational.
CALHOUN, La. – Oklahoma City University led the Louisiana-Monroe Wallace Jones Invitational by one stroke through 36 holes Monday at Calvert Crossing Golf Club.
The Stars, ranked second in NAIA men's golf, fired a 292-296–588 to cling to a one-shot edge on host Louisiana-Monroe. Clark Collier, a senior from Edmond, Okla., spearheaded OCU with a second-place standing individually.
Collier trailed Garrett Driver of Sam Houston State by a shot. Collier turned in a 70-73–143 for the Stars. He buried seven birdies.
OCU's Taylor Artman and Elliot Groves tied for fourth place after two rounds. Artman, a senior from Norman, Okla., posted a 72-76–148 while knocking in six birdies. Groves, a senior from Winchester, Hampshire, England, registered a 75-73–148 with five birdies.
James Marchesani sat tied for 10th with a 75-74–149 and five birdies. Sondre Ronold had an 80-79–159, and Cameron Meyers, playing unattached, shot 73-82–155 for the Stars.
The tournament finishes with the final round 8 a.m. Tuesday.
