OCU's Herron wins Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon

Assistant cross country and track coach Camille Herron posted a time of 2:45:13 and broke the state record by nine minutes

Camille Herron's time of 2:45:13 broke the state record of 2:54:22 set by Catherine Lisle in 2010.
OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University assistant cross country and track coach Camille Herron won the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon and set a new state record Sunday.
Herron, wife of OCU coach Conor Holt, became the first female to finish the race with a time of 2 hours, 45 minutes and 13 second. Her time was nine minutes faster than the former record time of 2:54:22 set by Catherine Lisle in 2010.
“This win was very tough but very meaningful being a native Oklahoman and since Conor holds the men's course record,” Herron said. “It meant a lot to my friends and family who have supported me my whole career.”
Herron finished nine minutes ahead of the second place finisher Lisle and 18 minutes behind male winner Jake Buhler.
“I have always wanted to run the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon especially to honor the memorial,” Herron said. “This race takes on so many meanings and purposes to everyone at all levels. It's truly unique.”
