OCU holds second place in Battle at the Primm

Collier leads second-ranked Stars with third-place standing

Sondre Ronold stood 11 shots off the pace through the first two rounds Monday.
PRIMM, Nev. – Oklahoma City University found itself five strokes off the pace set by Oklahoma Christian through 36 holes of the Battle at the Primm on Monday at Primm Valley Golf Course.
The Stars, ranked second in NAIA men's golf, recorded a 293-289–582 as top-ranked defending national champion Oklahoma Christian had a 294-283–577 on the par-72, 7,131-yard course.
OCU held a two-shot edge on 14th-ranked Wayland Baptist (Texas) and a five-stroke advantage on third-ranked Grand View (Iowa), 11th-ranked CSU San Marcos, Lubbock Christian (Texas) and Oklahoma Baptist.
OCU's Clark Collier, a senior from Edmond, Okla., held third place after firing a 69-70–139 to be two shots behind Chase Lindsey of Oklahoma Baptist.
James Marchesani, a sophomore from Rosebud, Victoria, Australia, carded 72-75–147 to be tied for 15th for the Stars. Sondre Ronold, a junior from Stavanger, Norway, posted a 77-71–148 to be in a tie for 24th for OCU.
Taylor Artman contributed a 76-73–149, while Michael Palmer had a 76-77–153.
The Battle at the Primm finishes Tuesday with the final round.
