OCU finishes second in Chaps Fall Invitational

James Marchesani, Michael Palmer and Oswin Schlenkrich all turned in top-10 finishes

James Marchesani and Oswin Schlenkrich tied for fourth in the Chaps Fall Invitational.

LUBBOCK, Texas – Oklahoma City University fired a round-three 288 Tuesday and finished second in the Chaps Fall Invitational at the Rawls Course.
The Stars, ranked No. 1 in the Golf World/Nike Golf NAIA preseason poll, shot 298-300-288–886 overall on the par-72, 7,349-yard course and finished six shots behind tournament-champion Odessa (Texas) and three shots ahead of Our Lady of the Lake (Texas).
Junior James Marchesani, of Rosebud, Victoria, Australia, carded 71-74-73–218 on the tournament to take a share of fourth place. Marchesani led the tournament with two eagles over three rounds and finished three shots behind individual-champion Jamie Warman of Odessa.
Oswin Schlenkrich, a freshman from Queenstown, Eastern Cape, South Africa, carded 72-76-70–218 while playing as an individual and tied for fourth.
Senior Michael Palmer, of Johannesburg, South Africa, fired 75-78-68–221 to earn a share of 10th place. Palmer carded the lowest score of round three.
Senior Sondre Ronold, of Stavanger, Norway, shot 80-71-72–223 to tie for 16th. Monty Lack, a junior from Melbourne, Australia, carded 75-77-75–227 and freshman Anthony Marchesani, of Rosebud, Victoria, Australia, finished with 77-80-76–233.
Brodie Hinkle, a freshman from Tulsa, Okla., carded 71-79-72–222 to tie for 12th and lead OCU's second team to seventh place. Sophomore Scott Verplank, of Edmond, Okla., shot 79-75-70–224 and senior Jacob Simon, of Oklahoma City, finished with 76-76-78–230.
Mark Anderson, a junior from Wichita, Kan., shot 77-80-85–242 and Jose Lopez finished with 78-85-79–242.
The Stars begin the spring season Feb. 4-5 in the CSU San Marcos Cougar Invitational at Shadowridge Golf Club in Vista, Calif.
