OKLAHOMA CITY – Athletes from across the country are competing in the USA Canoe/Kayak Sprint National Championships on the Oklahoma River, where some are qualifying for the 2010 Pan Am Championships in Mexico City on Oct. 8-10.
In the 500-meter events, qualifying athletes include Olympian Carrie Johnson, who placed first in the women's senior single-person kayak event with a time of 1 minute, 53.714 seconds.
Ryan Dolan of the Hawaii Canoe & Kayak Team, who came first in the men's senior single-person kayak event with a time of 1:39.642 and Morgan House, who placed second in the same event with a time of 1:42.730, have both qualified.
On the junior team, Luke Potts, who won the men's junior single-person kayak 500-meter event with a time of 1:48.391, is also a Pan Am qualifier.
Additionally, national championships were awarded in 500-meter events in all age categories. Go here for complete results.
