OAKLAND, Calif. – Oklahoma City University rower Jimmy Von Peters received an invitation to attend USRowing’s national team freshman sculling camp on July 1-11.
Von Peters, a freshman from Chattanooga, Tenn., is one of 17 athletes from across the country selected for the camp, which is designed for athletes with elite-level potential and aspirations.
The intensive camp exposes athletes to the technical and physiological basics of rowing at the national-team level and gives them the opportunity to train with athletes of a similar caliber.
Von Peters was named America Collegiate Rowing Association third-team all-American and all-Plains Region. Von Peters captured the men’s single event in the ACRA Championships on May 23-24.
“Jimmy has made tremendous gains in the single scull this past year,” said OCU assistant coach Tempe Knopp. “The coaching staff is so proud to see his hard work has earned him this prestigious invitation from USRowing.”
