William McKinney became Oklahoma City Unviersity's head women's wrestling coach prior to the 2024-25 season after serving as the OCU assistant coach since the 2021-22 season.
McKinney earned SAC Coach of the Year honors in his first season as head coach, leading the Stars to a dramatic conference titles with two league champions and 10 All-Conference award winners. The team went on to a 14th-place finish at the NAIA Tournament and claimed three All-Americans.
McKinney has more than 25 years of experience as a seasoned coach and operations leader. With a diverse background in college athletics, the private coaching sector, and the U.S. Marine Corps, McKinney is known for his innovative leadership, strategic planning, and commitment to operational excellence.

McKinney has been instrumental in guiding athletes to athletic and academic success, having coached multiple National Champions, All-Americans, and Scholar All-Americans. His dedication to mentorship extends beyond the mat, ensuring his student athlete have an environment conducive to success in both athletic and academic pursuits.

McKinney previously served as an assistant coach for OCU Women’s Wrestling, during which the team produced a national champion and multiple All-Americans. Every year he’s been on staff, the team has finished consistently in the top 18 nationally. He has also contributed to the program’s academic success, with the team being recognized as one of the top 8 scholar teams in the country. His leadership is poised to further elevate OCU’s women’s wrestling program, continuing its tradition of excellence.

In addition to his experience at OCU, McKinney has worked with USA Wrestling at developmental camps and is Silver Certified by USA Wrestling. His expertise and passion for the sport have allowed him to coach athletes at the highest levels, including international tournaments and the Olympic Trials. McKinney also owned and operated 3F Wrestling in Austin, Texas, for over 9 years, where he successfully built and led a thriving private wrestling facility.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, McKinney holds a B.B.A. in Marketing from Strayer University. He is also a dedicated family man, married to his wife, Haley, and they have four children: Molly, M.E., Macy, and Dash.
