Marty McCauley has continued the championship tradition of the powerhouse Oklahoma City University women’s golf program.
In five years as OCU head coach, McCauley has guided the Stars to the 2013 and 2014 NAIA championships and four Sooner Athletic Conference championships. OCU has 12 tournament wins in 53 events while annually competing against multiple NCAA Division I teams on the NAIA’s most challenging schedule.
McCauley has garnered NAIA coach of the year two times and SAC coach of the year twice. He has guided 18 all-Americans, the 2013 NAIA individual champion, the 2013 and 2014 NAIA individual runner-up, 12 all-conference performers, two SAC individual champions and two SAC freshmen of the year.
Off the course, the Stars have earned academic accolades with five NAIA scholar team awards, four NAIA scholar-athletes and the program’s first ever CoSIDA academic all-American. Elia Folch gained the Jim Wade Award as OCU’s female student-athlete of the year, while the squad took the OCU athletic department team of character honor in 2013-14. The team contributes to the community through regularly donating time to the First Tee program.
In 2014-15, the Stars finished with two tournament crowns, including their fourth consecutive SAC title. Four OCU individuals collected all-American nods, including one first-team accolade.
McCauley had spent the previous five years as men’s golf assistant coach to Greg Sands at Texas Tech. With Texas Tech, McCauley helped guide the program to heights never before achieved since arriving in 2005.
The Red Raiders enjoyed some of the best seasons in school history, including four trips to the NCAA Championships and five consecutive NCAA regional appearances. Texas Tech completed its finest season in 50 years in 2009-10, falling to Florida State 4-1 in match play of the NCAA Championships. Tech posted its first top-eight NCAA finish since 1959.
Texas Tech has fielded the strongest lineups in school history during McCauley’s tenure. Tech had six all-Americans the past five seasons, including three-time all-American Oscar Floren, who became the first Red Raider named first-team PING all-American.
McCauley previously served as assistant coach to Kyle Blaser on OCU’s ultra successful men's golf program for two seasons. McCauley aided the Stars to the 2003 and 2004 NAIA national championships as well as the 2003 and 2004 Sooner Athletic Conference titles. During those two years, OCU produced seven all-Americans as well as two NAIA scholar-athlete award winners.
