Brett Tahah has become the first alumna to lead the Oklahoma City University women’s basketball program.
Tahah spent the previous two years as head girls basketball coach and athletic director for Frontier High School in Oklahoma. At Frontier, Tahah guided the Lady Mustangs to the state tournament semifinals, an undefeated mark in the 89er Athletic Conference and a 27-2 record in 2018-19. Frontier went 46-13 the past two years under Tahah’s guidance.
Tahah has a 117-50 head-coaching record (.701 winning percentage) with two state tournament semifinal appearances and an academic state championship in six years at Oklahoma high schools Frontier, Elgin, Hobart and Lookeba-Sickles. Tahah, a two-time region coach of the year, mentored eight all-state selections and nine all-conference performers.
With the Stars, Tahah (nee’ Bates) contributed to two NAIA Division I Championship Tournament Fab Four appearances during her playing career. She became the team’s NAIA champion of character award winner. OCU went 63-10 with an .863 winning percentage, one Sooner Athletic Conference regular-season championship and two SAC Tournament titles during that time.
Tahah earned her bachelor of arts degree in biology and master’s of education with curriculum and instruction from Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan. She collected two NAIA all-American nods, two first-team all-conference honors and conference player of the year for Southwestern. She posted 1,227 points, 229 rebounds, 178 assists, 86 steals and 178 3-pointers during her college career.
Tahah took all-state honors in basketball and softball at Hobart High School. She was a two-time all-stater in basketball.
Tahah is married (Scott) with two children (Zoey and Maddox).
