Kyle Blaser

Kyle Blaser has made history guiding the Oklahoma City University men’s golf team.
Blaser led the Stars to their eighth NAIA championship, prevailing by three strokes over defending champion Oklahoma Christian on May 25 at TPC Deere Run in Salem, Ore. Blaser has won more NAIA men’s golf championships than any coach (eight). He has been the NAIA national coach of the year seven times, also the most ever by anyone. OCU has also won 11 regional titles and 15 Sooner Athletic Conference championships in 16 seasons under Blaser.
The 2011-12 season proved to be a banner year for OCU men’s golf. The Stars captured four victories in 12 events, winning the Sooner Athletic Conference Championships by 29 strokes over then-No. 1 Oklahoma Christian. The Stars added playoff wins in the Texas Intercollegiate and Louisiana-Monroe Wallace Jones Invitational among seven top-five finishes. OCU ended the season with the No. 1 ranking. OCU has 79 wins in 177 tournaments under Blaser.
In his time at OCU, Blaser has coached four NAIA individual champions and national players of the year, one NAIA individual runner-up, 58 all-Americans, three four-time all-Americans, seven three-time all-Americans, six two-time all-Americans, two Phil Mickelson award winners as NAIA freshman of the year, 21 NAIA scholar-athlete award winners, five CoSIDA academic all-Americans, six NAIA Region VI champions and players of the year, nine Sooner Athletic Conference individual champions and players of the year.
Since arriving at Oklahoma City in December 1997, Blaser has guided the Stars to 13 top-10 finishes in the NAIA Championships.
OCU started its women’s program in 2000-01, and the Stars immediately became a powerhouse under Blaser’s guidance. OCU finished as NAIA runner-up and captured nine tournament titles, including the NAIA Region VI and SAC championships. Two women’s golfers became all-Americans.
In 2006, Blaser led the nation’s top junior golfers in the World Junior Golf Cup in Japan.
Blaser coached at Jenks High School (Okla.) in 1996. In his tenure there, Jenks won the conference title, regional title and Class 5A state championship. In 1996, Blaser was named Oklahoma Golf Coaches Association Regional Representative.
Blaser and his wife Krista have sons named Blake (12), Carson (9) and Chase (4).
