OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City's Ayenew Devany received the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association NAIA Men's Athlete of the Week honors, the USTFCCCA announced on Monday.

Devany won the College Division race at the Gans Creek Classic, clocking 24:32.5 over the 8k course to win by 2.8 seconds over Kalieb Haileselassie of Columbia (Mo.).

Devany led the Stars – unranked in the latest NAIA national coaches' poll – to a sixth-place finish as six of the top-9 squads were ranked or receiving votes in that poll.
This is the fourth time that a male athlete from Oklahoma City has been named M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week during the cross country season.

Devany joins Evert Silva (twice in 2024) and Shimales Abebe (2022) in that regard.
