Stars Earn Home Berth With Win

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City celebrated Senior Day with a win and at least two more home games.

The Stars held off the College of the Ozarks 4-3 and secured the third seed in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament, which begins next weekend. The Stars will host sixth-seeded Wayland Baptist. Times are to be determined.

Prior to the game, OCU honored nine outgoing seniors: Aiden Alexander, Nick Anaya, Trent Baker, Bauer Brittain, Dalton Campbell, Jack Johnson, Cade Kelsey, Cole Sedgwick and Aiden Van Rensum.

The Stars got things going in the right direction in the bottom of the first inning when Baker launched a two-run home run to score Alexander for a 2-0 lead.

Ozarks scored an unearned run in the second, but the Stars answered with an RBI ground out by Heath Brown and an RBI single from Alexander for a 4-1 lead.

The Bobcats added runs in the third and ninth but couldn't catch up with the hosts.

Campbell got the start and pitched six innings, allowing one earned run while striking out six to get the win. Baker came on and earned a three-inning save with one unearned run.

Van Rensum was huge in right field, racking up two assists. He threw a runner out at home to end the third inning and gunned down a runner at third to end the eighth inning.

OCU had nine hits, including two each by Wyatt Pace, Eli Hill and Alexander.

The Stars conclude the regular season with a 6 p.m. home game against Southern Nazarene on Tuesday.
