Stars Split Saturday Slate

OKLAHOMA CITY – On Sunday, February 8, Oklahoma City University baseball continued hosting duties to #22 Bellevue University (Neb.) and #16 Concordia University. The Stars entered play still seeking their first win of the 2026 season. Two OCU starting pitchers recorded the best outings of the young season for the Stars on Sunday.

Game 1
Oklahoma City 5, Bellevue 1

Top Performer
Bauer Brittain: 7.0 IP, 8 K, 4 H, 3 BB, 1 ER, CG, W

After heartbreaking disappointment Saturday night, Oklahoma City bounced back in a big way during game one of Sunday's action. Trent Baker opened the scoring and facilitated a Stars' crooked number in the opening inning. After an RBI single by Baker, Wyatt Pace singled to center field, giving OCU an early 2-0 lead over the Bruins.

Stars' starting pitcher, Bauer Brittain, made quick work of the Bellevue offense in the first two innings before giving up a solo shot in the third inning; the solo shot was the only run surrendered by Brittain on the day.

In the bottom of the third inning, Aiden Van Rensum smacked a three-run home run over the left center field wall, extending the Stars' lead to four runs. Van Rensum has had a three-run home run in two of the last three games.

After the third inning, neither team scored any additional runs, and hardly any baserunners made it onto the basepaths. OCU maintained its lead behind a strong pitching performance by Brittain, securing win number one for 2026.

Game 2
Concordia 6, Oklahoma City 3

Top Performers
Trent Baker: 5.0 IP. 7 K, 1 ER, 1 H, 1 BB
Jared Raasch: 1-2, 2 RBI, R, BB, HR

Similar to last night's heartbreaking loss against Bellevue, the Stars squandered a terrific opportunity to earn a significant win against a nationally ranked opponent. The Stars rode the momentum of their starting pitcher, Trent Baker, into the sixth inning before a crooked number by the Bulldogs reared its ugly head. OCU was in cruise control defensively, but the bats struggled to awaken. Small ball came into play for the first run of the ballgame in the third inning.

A single by the first batter of the inning, Will Ellis, jump-started OCU. Then, Jared Raash drew a walk before Brittain Brewer connected on a single. An aggressive offensive call by head coach Keith Lytle set the Stars up to score their first run of the game– a perfectly executed squeeze bunt up the third base line brought Ellis home to score, and Alexander beat out the throw at first base.

After the third inning, OCU failed to record another run until the bottom of the seventh inning when Raasch put a charge into a two-run blast; the home run by the OCU backstop was the first of his career. However, the scoring came too late.

Concordia scored a total of six runs in the final two innings after OCU relief pitchers surrendered six walks, multiple wild pitches, and a hit batter. The Stars outhit the Bulldogs 4-3, but the mishaps from the mound late in the game were too much to overcome for Oklahoma City.
