VICTORIA, Texas – Oklahoma City got a hat trick from
Bernardo Duarte and spoiled Texas A&M-Victoria's season opener with a 5-0 victory Saturday.
Â
Duarte got the game-winner in the 28
th minute on a penalty kick for the 1-0 lead – a familiar refrain from the first three games of the OCU season, which were all 1-0 affairs with all the scoring coming on penalty kicks.
Â
But the Stars broke the pattern in the 33
rd minute when
Nathan Fergeson made it 2-0 with an assist from
Francisco Miquel.
Â
Duarte put the ball in the netting again in the 44
th minute, using a double assist from Fergerson and
Juan Erazo, taking a 3-0 lead into halftime.
Â
Duarte got the hat trick in the 63
rd minute, getting a feed from
Thomas Brulay.
Â
Miquel added a penalty kick eight minutes later for his second goal of the weekend to make it 5-0.
Â
The Jaguars tested
Alexis Bertrand three times on the day with Bertrand posting his second clean sheet of the weekend.
Â
The Stars had 16 quality shots with Duarte putting all three of his attempts into the net. Fergeson, Brulay, Miquel,
Ethan Taylor and
Ruben Fahiya also had shots on goal in the victory.
Â
Now 2-2 on the season, the Stars travel to Conway, Arkansas, next Saturday to take on Central Baptist.
