OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University hits the road for two men's soccer road games this week, visiting Our Lady of the Lake and Houston-Victoria.
The Stars (0-2) are at OLLU (1-0) on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. and then at UHV at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
OCU Notes
PK Killer: Except for a pair of fouls called in the box, Oklahoma City's defense has been pretty good. The Stars are 0-2 on the season with both goals allowed coming on penalty kicks. The Stars held No. 15 Baker to five shots and Midland launched only six.
Firing Blanks: The Stars have struggled offensively with three shots on goals over two games.
Matheus Ambrozio,
Henrique Duarte and
Francisco Miquel tested the keeper once each this season. It is the first time since 2019 that OCU has been shut down twice to open the season.
For Keeps: When he hasn't faced penalty shots,
Alexis Bertrand has been stellar in goal. He has four saves against four shots on goal with penalties aside.
A Little History: The Stars have shut out Our Lady of the Lake in each of the last four meetings, including an 8-0 win last season. Two of those shutouts happened in San Antonio in 2019 and 2022. Houston-Victoria won the last meeting with OCU, 2-1, in Victoria.
Scouting Our Lady of the Lake: Our Lady of the Lake opened last week with a 4-0 win at Schreiner. Andres Rocha had two goals in the game for the Saints.
Scouting OLLU: Our Lady of the Lake officially opens the season with the Stars. The Jags were 7-7-2 last year
