PLAINVIEW, Tex—On Friday, the Oklahoma City University Softball team opened a Sooner Athletic Conference series against the Pioneers of Wayland Baptist. OCU swept the doubleheader Friday to pick up their 29th and 30th wins of the 2025 season. The Stars also moved to 18-4 in SAC competition. With the two wins on Friday, OCU extended their winning streak to eight games and has outscored their opponents 77-12 in that span while collecting three run-rule victories.
Game One: Oklahoma City 4, WBU 0
Top Performers
Tiffany Paul: 2-4, 2 R, 2B, 3B
Iliana Ashford: 2-4, R, RBI, SB
The Stars' offense took a while to get going, but in the fifth inning, Iliana Ashford notched a run for OCU on a double to center field. Following Ashford's RBI double, Tara Hoehner reached base on an error committed by WBU, which resulted in Ashford scoring a run. Starting pitcher Emersen Heron proceeded to collect an RBI on a single that scored Hoehner.
Heron took the mound for the Stars and did not leave it until the game was complete. The senior from Edmond pitched a complete-game shutout while giving up only four hits and surrendering no walks. Heron's victory in game one notched her 11th win of the season.
The Stars added an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning when Hoehner connected on a SAC fly.
Tiffany Paul performed well and extended her streak of scoring at least one run to five games—the Stars' backstop has also amassed 15 hits in her last 10 games played.
WBU's starting pitcher, Adrianna Armstrong (6.0 IP, 2 ER), had a solid outing, but timely offense and stifling pitching propelled OCU to victory in game one.
Game 2: Oklahoma City 12, SCU 0
Top Performers
Analise Rayburn: 2-4, RBI, 2 SB
Kindalyn Miller: 2-3, 2 R, SB, 2B
In game two, OCU used aggressive base running (five stolen bases as a team) and capitalized on four WBU errors to secure the win.
The Stars got on the scoreboard in the third inning when Paul sent a double to center field, scoring Carlee Mollett. Ashford then reached on an error committed by the Pioneers, and Paul came around to score.
OCU executed an exciting double steal in the fourth inning, which resulted in Kindalyn Miller swiping home and scoring a run, extending the Stars' lead to 3-0. Mollett stole second on the play.
However, in the bottom of the fourth inning, WBU cut the lead to just one run. Berkley Bradley reached on a Stars error, resulting in Amber Poorbaugh making her way across home plate. Then, Pioneers' catcher, Makayla Sanchez, notched a single that drove in Bradley to cut the OCU lead to 3-2.
Late game offensive execution in the sixth and seventh innings stretched to lead too far for WBU to come back. During the top of the sixth inning, Mollett reached on another WBU error, and Miller scored on the play. In the seventh, Analise Rayburn sent an RBI single to left field and scored Ashford.
Stars' starting pitcher Brynlee Alsip then closed the door on the Pioneers in the bottom of the seventh to tally her 12th win, giving her a 12-2 record.
