Stars Earn Fourth Straight Win, Sweep Series Against SCU

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City University Softball team swept their doubleheader at Ann Lacey Stadium against Southwestern Christian. The Stars extended their win streak against the Eagles to 35 and outscored their Sooner Athletic Conference counterpart 24-5 in the two games played on Saturday. OCU collected a run-rule win in game two and now owns a four-game win streak. Currently, the Stars sit two games behind Science & Arts for first place in the SAC.

Top Performers
Tiffany Paul: 2-5, 2 RBI, 2B
Analise Rayburn: 3-4, 3 R, 2 RBI, 2B, HR

The Stars' offense erupted late in the game to pave the way to victory. OCU did not score a run in the first four innings of play but put together a strong offensive output in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings.

Before the offense of OCU woke up, they found themselves down 2-0 after Trinity Norwood hit two solo home runs to give the Eagles the lead. SCU scored all of their runs with the long ball in game one of the doubleheader.

However, in the fifth inning, Rally Radacy opened the scoring for the Stars with a double that scored Analise Rayburn. Kindalyn Miller followed up the double of Radacy with one of her own, which brought the Stars' third baseman in to score. Miller crossed home plate after Carlee Mollett collected and RBI single.

The offensive onslaught continued in the sixth inning with two home runs by OCU. Rayburn hit a two-RBI home run that scored Tara Hoehner. Miller matched the two-run bomb hit by Rayburn, giving OCU a four-run sixth inning.

In the seventh inning, Radacy struck again with a single to center field that drove in Hoehner. Miller continued her hot hitting with an RBI single that brought in Rayburn to score another run. Capping off the seventh inning was a bases-clearing double hit by Tiffany Paul—scoring on the play were Grace Pollon, Miller, and Radacy.

Emersen Heron collected her 10th win of the season and allowed no walks while throwing seven strikeouts en route to a complete-game appearance.

In game two, OCU shut out the Eagles and collected a run-rule win. Powering the Stars to their victory in the second game was the bat of Rayburn, who notched two home runs and extended her active hitting streak to five games. The Stars' shortstop has produced 18 RBIs in her last five games while also homering in that same stretch of games.

The first eight runs tallied by OCU came from home runs. Rayburn's first home run of the game occurred in the first inning, and then lightning struck twice in the second inning for the Stars. Tiffany Paul smacked a grand slam, and Rayburn hit her second homer of game two, which scored Iliana Ashford.

OCU amassed six runs in the second inning and added another four in the fifth inning.

Stars senior, Mollett singled to left field and drove in Radacy in the fifth inning. Freshman Jacquelyn Purtell chipped in two RBIs of her own with a double that scored Mollett and Miller. Lastly, Rayburn added to her RBI total with a single to right field, which scored Purtell.

Stars' starting pitcher Brynlee Alsip dominated from the mound—she pitched the minimum five innings while only allowing three hits and collecting three strikeouts. Alsip won both of her starts in the four-game series against SCU.
