OCU Softball Extends Win Streak to 16 Games with Doubleheader Victories Over MACU

Moore, Okla. – The Oklahoma City Softball team notched two more victories to remain undefeated in Sooner Athletic Conference play and extended their win streak to 16 games. On the season, the Stars are now 20-2 overall. The doubleheader against Mid-America Christian was a tale of two stories from the first game to the second. OCU played small ball and capitalized on two sacrifice flys to score two of their three runs; the other run came from a home run hit by Analise Rayburn. The Stars' offense awakened in game two of the doubleheader and ultimately outscored the Evangels 10-2 during Thursday's games. The Stars have now won their last 12 matchups against MACU.

Emersen Heron – W, 7.0 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 4 K, CG, SO

The Stars' ace Emersen Heron logged a complete game shutout in a tremendous effort provided for her team. The pitcher only allowed three hits en route to a strong outing. OCU used three different one-run innings to give Heron just enough run support as the Stars locked in another win during conference play.

Rayburn led the offensive charge in game one, going 2-for-3 while recording a home run in both doubleheader games. The infielder from Yukon has extended her hitting streak to 19 games and has recorded a hit in 20 of the Stars' 22 games this season. Backstop Tiffany Paul added to the offensive success while notching an RBI in game one Thursday. Paul recorded a hit in her 12th straight game and has amassed 10 hits in her last five games.

OCU's dominant pitching and timely offense were too much for the Evangels to overcome. In game two of the doubleheader, the Stars gave up one run in the first inning but used a four-run fifth inning and a crooked number in the top of the seventh to secure their 20th win.

Oklahoma City's offense came to life in Thursday's second game of their doubleheader. The Stars tallied five runs in the fourth and fifth innings behind a three-run home run from Rayburn and a run scored by Ana Ashford, who stole third base, then made it to home on a throwing error by MACU. Starting pitcher Brynlee Alsip earned her sixth win of the season and is now 6-0 in the 2025 campaign.

OCU wasted no time jumping on MACU starter Gia Reynosa. The Stars tallied six hits and scored five runs in five innings against Reynosa. Aiding in securing the win for OCU was Morgandee Sawatsky, who picked up her first save of the season, and Rayburn's second home run of the doubleheader, which came in the seventh inning and served as sealant for the Stars' second victory of the day.

The small ball and the long ball helped the OCU softball team secure two wins in the doubleheader against MACU, leading to a strong opening in the Sooner Athletic Conference series opener.
