This Week in OCU Women's Basketball

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City winds down the final three games of its five games in 10 days stretch this week with visits from Southwestern Christian on Monday and Nelson on Saturday sandwiching a Thursday road trip to Texas Wesleyan.

OCU host SCU and visits TWU with 6 p.m. starts and finishes off the week at 2 p.m. against Nelson.

OCU Notebook
Previously: An offensive lull in the second period was Oklahoma City's undoing in a 73-46 to the College of the Ozarks on Saturday. The teams were tied at 16-16 after the first quarter but a six-point second quarter by OCU gave momentum to the Bobcats. Sunishka Kartik came off the bench to lead OCU with 12 points and three steals. Ellie Willard scored 10 points. Kartik and Lauren Rowan shared the rebound lead with six each.

Opportunity Knocks: The Stars at 1-4 in the Sooner Athletic Conference get a chance to make a move this week with SCU and Texas Wesleyan just a game ahead of the Stars.

Stars at Home: The Stars are 2-2 in home games and 1-1 in the league. Ellie Willard averages 13.3 points per game in Abe Lemons Arena. Lauren Rowan averages seven rebounds and three assists per game.

OCU on the Road: The Stars are 1-3 on the road. Ellie Willard averages 16.3 point and Victoria Ososanya gets 10 points per road game.

Who's Hot: Sunishka Kartik is averaging nine points per game off the bench in the last three games. She is shooting 52 percent from the field and 50 percent from three-point range during the three most recent games.

Scoring: Ellie Willard leads the Stars at 16.4 points per game and leads the team with 16 three-pointers. Sunishka Kartik has made all 17 of her free throws this season.

Board Games: Guard Lauren Rowan leads the team with 5.7 rebounds, followed closely by forward Weronika Tomaszuk at 5.6.

Our Best So Far: Ellie Willard's 30-point game versus Ottawa stands, by far, as the top OCU scoring performance this season. OCU players have had nine rebounds five times this season. Lauren Rowan's seven-assist game against Williams Baptist is the high this season.

History with SCU: Southwestern Christian has won five of the last six meetings against OCU, including a 77-56 win in Bethany this season. Chrissen Harland had 23 points for SCU. Ellie Willard had 18 for the Stars.

Scouting the Eagles: SCU is 5-4 overall and 2-3 in the league after a 63-57 loss at home to John Brown on Saturday. Kaydrin Scott leads the Eagles with 15.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.

History with Texas Wesleyan: The Rams have won the last nine games in the series and haven't lost to the Stars in Fort Worth since 2020. TWU held OCU to 39.5 points per game in the series last season.

Checking in on the Rams: The Rams are 6-5 overall and 2-3 in the SAC following their 58-55 loss at Wayland Baptist on Saturday. Kameryn Phillips leads TWU with 17.4 points and six rebounds per game.

History with Nelson: The Stars swept the series last season to end a three-game skid. OCU won its home game, 71-52.

Scouting the Lions: Nelson is 8-1 overall and 4-1 against the SAC after winning at Panhandle State on Saturday, 76-43. NU heads to Southwestern Christian on Thursday on a four-game winning streak. Paris Miller, who has yet to start a game, leads the team with 14.4 points per game.
