This Week in OCU Women's Basketball

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City continues its lengthy stretch of road games this week with trips to USAO on Thursday and Mid-America Christian on Saturday.
 
The Stars face the Drovers in Chickasha at 6 p.m. on Thursday and the Evangels in south Oklahoma City at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
 
OCU Notebook
On the Road: The Stars are playing their fifth and sixth consecutive games away from home this weekend. OCU is 2-2 away from the Freede Center, including a 1-1 mark in true road games and a 1-1 record on neutral courts. Away from home, Ellie Willard averages 20.5 points per game.
 
Last Game: Oklahoma City came up short in its Sooner Athletic Conference opener on Saturday, falling 77-56 at Southwestern Christian. Ellie Willard led the Stars with 18 points and six rebounds. Lauren Rowan had five assists. OCU struggled from the field, shooting 31 percent, and committed 19 turnovers.
 
Scoring: Ellie Willard leads the team in scoring at 18.6 points per game. Willard leads the team with 11 three-pointers.

Free but Not Easy: The Stars are shooting 65 percent from the free-throw line this season. Lauren Rowan has been doing well there this season, shooting 88.2 percent (15-17). Sunishka Kartik (8-8) and Lia Sekhniashvili (5-5) are perfect early in the season.
 
Board Work: The Stars are out-rebounding opponents by more than two rebounds per game and averaging 40 per game. Weronika Tomaszuk leads the team with seven rebounds per game. Monica Devine leads the squad with 10 offensive rebounds this season.
 
Feed Me: Seven Stars have multiple assists this season, led by Ellie Willard with 15. She is averaging 3.0 assists per game. OCU averages 12.8 as a team.
 
Steals: Sunishka Kartik leads the Stars with seven steals and averages 1.4 per game. Victoria Ososanya averages one steal per game as a reserve.
 
History with USAO: USAO has won the last eight meetings in the series, including a three-point win last season in Chickasha.
 
Scouting the Drovers: USAO is 3-0 on the season with blowout wins over UNT-Dallas, Northern New Mexico and University of the Southwest. Thursday will be both USAO's first SAC and home game. Evangelia Davlakou leads USAO with 21.7 points per game and Pashonnay Johnson averages 15.3.
 
History with MACU: Mid-America Christian has won the last three games in the series, including a 70-54 win at MACU last season.
 
Scouting the Evangels: MACU is 5-1 after a 79-40 win over LSU-Shreveport on Saturday. Talayah Thomas leads a quarter of double-figure scorers for MACU at 13.3 points per game.
 
Thirty: Ellie Willard put up 30 points in OCU's win over Ottawa. It was OCU's first 30-point game since Annillia Dawn scored 34 at Mid-America Christian in 2023.
