This Week in OCU Men's Soccer

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University men's soccer focuses on a singular opponent this week with Nelson visiting on Saturday.
 
The Stars and Lions square off on Brian Harvey Field at 6:30 p.m.
 
OCU Notebook
Last Game: Oklahoma City turned away Texas Wesleyan in Sooner Athletic Conference men's soccer on Saturday, 2-1. Ethan Taylor and Harrison Knight both scored goals and assisted on each other's opportunities for the Stars. Taylor got OCU on the board in the 29th minute for the game-winner. The Stars went ahead 2-0 when Knight found the net in the 62nd minute.
 
Shutouts: Through 14 games, the Stars have allowed nine goals. The Stars' defense has allowed just 7.8 shots per game and only 3.3 shots on goal per match. The result has been conference-best five shutouts and a shared shutout for goalkeeper Alexis Bertrand. Bertrand has logged a 0.67 goals allowed average this season to lead the SAC. Bertrand leads the Sooner Athletic Conference with that GAA, and he is second with a .780 save percentage.
 
The SAC: Heading into the week, Oklahoma City is tied for second in the Sooner Athletic Conference with 11 points on a 3-0-2 record. Nelson has two points off of two conference draws this season.
 
Stars at Home: OCU is 5-1-1 at home this season, where they have outscored opponents 16-6. Ruben Fahiya and Harrison Knight share the lead with three goals each at home this season.
 
Half and Half: The Stars have outscored opponents by a 27-8 margin this season, allowing three first- and six second-half goals. OCU has 15 first-half goals and 12 second-half goals. 
 
Three-Game Trend: Over the last three games, OCU is 2-0-1 with two goals by Ethan Taylor and one from Harrison Knight. The Stars have 28 shots in the last three games but have allowed 35.
 
The Goals: Bernardo Duarte leads the Stars and is ninth in the Sooner Athletic Conference with six goals this season. OCU has 27 goals on the season. Harrison Knight has four goals this season, followed by Nathan Fergeson, Francisco Miquel and Ruben Fahiya with three each. 
 
On the Assist: Thirteen Stars have combined for 208 assists this season. Ruben Fahiya and Thomas Brulay lead the team with three apiece. Sage Trevino, Ethan Taylor and Harrison Knight  have two apiece.
 
Shoot Your Shot: After a sluggish start, OCU is averaging more than 13 shots per game. Two Stars, Harrison Knight (35) and Bernardo Duarte (28), have combined for 63 of the 174 shots. Over 40 percent of those 174 shots have been on goal and 16 percent have found the net. Bernardo Duarte leads the team with 143 shots on goal and Knight and Thomas Brulay have nine each.
 
Nelson History: The Stars have won the last 13 games against Nelson, including a 2-1 last year in Waxahachie. Henrique Duarte had a goal in that win for OCU
 
Scouting the Lions: 
Nelson is 5-5-3 overall and 0-3-2 in the Sooner Athletic Conference after a 2-1 loss to John Brown on Saturday. Joel Palmer leads the Lions with four goals and three assists.
 
Coach Billy Martin: Coach Martin is 59-30-12 since taking the helm at OCU in 2021. His 14-win season in 2024 was his best so far.
 
Keeper of the Week: Oklahoma City goalkeeper Alexis Bertrand's two clean sheets on the road earned him Sooner Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 2. Bertrand had three saves in those two wins. 
 
Hat Trick for Fahiya: Star Ruben Fahiya had a hat trick against Jarvis Christian. Those were the first goals of the season for Fahiya. Kenz Toms and Ethan Zeinalpor also had their first goals of the season in the 5-0 win, with Toms getting the game-winner.
